Our small studio fishtank, using some of the wabi balls we created earlier.

fuck-yeah-aquascaping:

The 20-minute 20l aquascape — aka Aquascaping for Dummies :))
Using emersed wabi-balls, this aquascape took no longer 20 minutes to set up, from scratch. I used 2 wabi balls of a mix of plants, previously kept emersed. I used a layer of sand, some lava rocks and a branch for a basic layout. I placed the wabi balls on the top of these, and I added some mosses to cover the bottom of the balls.

Technically, the setup uses a hang-on filter with 400l/h nominal capacity, with added biological filter media (3rd pic) and a 13W light fixture that I operate 5 hours a day (the tank is in a very light room). This is Day 9, without any water change so far. No sign of plant decay or algae (the water is extremely hard, which may causes problems later on). The fertilisation is provided by the ADA Multi-Bottom tabs, built into the balls.

The tank is inhabited by some red cherry shrimps and two male red albino guppies.
